Contacts and companies are the foundation of your CRM. Track people, organizations, and the relationships between them to build a complete picture of your sales pipeline.
Click New Contact from the Contacts page. When creating a contact outside of a company view you can link them to an existing company, create a new company inline, or leave them unlinked. You can also assign the contact to a specific team within the company.
Track where each contact or company is in your sales process:
When a contact has a linked company, the contact inherits the company's lifecycle stage by default. Stage can be overridden per-contact when needed.
Record how each contact entered your pipeline:
Open any contact and click the Edit button in the top-right to update their details. Changes are saved immediately. All edits are tracked in the History tab.
Add tags to contacts for quick filtering and segmentation. Use the filter bar to narrow contacts by lifecycle stage, source, company, tags, or any custom field.
Click New Company from the Companies page. Available fields:
Open any company and click the Edit button in the header to update company details. Changes are saved immediately and tracked in the History tab. The lifecycle stage can be set directly from the header — use the stage dropdown next to the Edit button. Use the Enrich button to auto-fill empty fields using the SalmonRun data API.
Large companies often have multiple internal teams (e.g. Engineering, Sales, Ops). You can create sub-teams under a company and assign contacts to specific teams. This helps you track relationships at a departmental level rather than just company-wide.
When assigning a contact to a company that has only one team, that team is automatically selected.
The # icon in the company header connects the company to a Slack channel. If no channel exists, clicking the icon creates a dedicated Slack channel named after the company. The channel topic is automatically set to link back to the Fishladder CRM page. If a channel already exists, clicking the icon opens it directly in Slack.
The Project button in the company header links the company to a project in the Tracker app. If no project exists, clicking the button shows a confirmation and creates one named after the company with standard To Do / In Progress / Done sections. The project is also automatically created when a company's stage reaches Meeting for the first time.
The new project is placed in a project group — by default this is CSM. Admins can change the group name under Settings → Sales & Customers → CRM Settings.
Each company page shows all linked contacts and deals. Use this view to understand the full relationship with an organization at a glance.
Every contact and company page includes a History tab that shows a chronological log of every field change. Each entry records:
This gives you a complete audit trail of how records have evolved over time — useful for understanding deal progression, handoffs between team members, and compliance.
Log interactions using these activity types:
Activities can be logged against contacts, companies, or deals. Each activity records the type, date, description, and any associated entities.
Every contact, company, and deal page includes a chronological activity timeline showing all logged interactions — giving you a complete history of every touchpoint.
