River is your team's wiki: runbooks, specs, client notes and process pages, written in Fishladder and linked to the work they're about. Pages live in spaces, and pages can sit under other pages.
A space is a top-level section of the wiki, like Engineering or Customer Success. Create one from the + menu at the top of the River sidebar.
A space can also sit inside another space — for example Cursor inside Customer Success. Hover a space in the sidebar and click the Move space icon, then pick its new parent space or Top level. Its pages and sub-spaces move with it. A space can't be moved inside itself or one of its own sub-spaces. Moving spaces from the sidebar is available to admins.
The sidebar filter searches space names, page titles and sub-spaces, and keeps the path to each match visible.
A page can be linked to the things it's about — tasks, boards, roadmap projects and initiatives, goals, CRM companies, contacts and deals, candidates and jobs, quotes and trust & safety questionnaires. Links show on both sides: in the page's Linked work panel and on the linked item.
Nothing you delete in River is gone for good. Open the + menu at the top of the River sidebar and choose Recently deleted to see what was deleted, when and by whom, and click Restore.
Anyone who can edit River can delete a page, and the same people can restore it. A page comes back with all its sub-pages, version history, comments, suggestions, links and attached files, in the same place. If its parent page has since been deleted, it comes back at the top of its space. If its whole space was deleted, restore the space first, then the page.
Deleting a space deletes every page in it, so only admins can do it. Its sub-spaces aren't deleted — they move up to the top level and keep their pages.
A deleted space isn't gone for good. Fishladder keeps a full copy — pages, version history, comments and suggestions, links, share links and attached files — and an admin can bring it back at any time:
Restoring puts everything back as it was, with the same page links. If things changed in the meantime:
Deleted pages and spaces are kept until restored; there's no automatic clean-up.
Commands that take a page accept its full ID, the 8-character ID that fish river pages prints, or its title:
fish river pages --space Engineering # the page tree
fish river show 69af0cc3 # prints "In: Engineering / Enrichment Sources / ContactOut"
fish river create "Kickoff checklist" --space "Customer Success" --parent Onboarding
fish river move 69af0cc3 --space Engineering --parent "Enrichment Sources"
fish river link 69af0cc3 tracker_task <taskId>See the CLI article for the full list.
With the Claude connector, Claude can search, read, create and edit pages, move them between spaces and parents, and link a page to a task or other record. Every page it reads, creates or moves comes back with its location. To avoid overwriting someone else's edits, Claude must read a page before replacing its text; if the page changed in between, it reads it again.
/api/v1/river/spaces lists spaces with their parentSpaceId. /api/v1/river/pages reads, creates, updates and moves pages; single-page responses include location (space, spaceParents, parents, breadcrumb). See the API reference.
