Notifications

Fishladder keeps you informed about task assignments, @mentions, comments, and status changes. Notifications are delivered through three channels: in-app, email, and Slack DM.

Notification Bell

The bell icon in the top-right corner shows your unread notification count. Click it to open the full notifications page where you can read, archive, or mark notifications as read.

Notifications Page

The notifications page shows all your notifications in reverse chronological order. Use the filter tabs to narrow the list:

  • All — every notification
  • Unread — only unread notifications
  • @Mentions — when someone mentions you in a comment
  • Assigned — when a task is assigned to you

Opening the notifications page automatically marks all visible notifications as read. Click a notification to navigate to the relevant task. Use the archive button to dismiss notifications you've dealt with.

Notification Types

Delivery Channels

Each notification type can be delivered via three channels:

  • In-app — appears in the notification bell (default for most events)
  • Email — sent to your account email (opt-in)
  • Slack DM — sent as a direct message in Slack (requires linking your Slack account)

Emails Are Grouped

The notification bell updates immediately. Email waits a few minutes so that a burst of activity reaches you as one message rather than several — if someone assigns you ten tasks in a row, you get one email listing all ten.

The wait restarts each time something new happens, so the message arrives once things settle, and after fifteen minutes at the latest. Anything you have already seen in the app by then is left out of the email, so being active in Fishladder means less mail, not more.

Grouping applies to email only — the notification bell and Slack DMs still arrive straight away. Nothing here changes whichnotifications you receive, only when the email lands. Turn a channel off in preferences to stop it entirely.

Managing Preferences

Go to Settings → Notifications to configure which events trigger notifications and through which channels. You can also enable:

  • Daily digest — a summary email of activity across your projects
  • Weekly report — a Monday email with project health and progress highlights
