Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Fishladder supports time-based one-time password (TOTP) two-factor authentication to add an extra layer of security to your account. When enabled, you will need both your password and a code from your authenticator app to sign in.
Supported Authenticator Apps
Any TOTP-compatible authenticator app will work, including:
- Google Authenticator
- Authy
- 1Password
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Bitwarden
Enabling 2FA
- Go to Settings > Security.
- Click Enable two-factor authentication.
- Enter your account password to confirm your identity.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan, expand the manual entry section to copy the secret key.
- Save the backup codes displayed on screen. Store them somewhere safe — each code can only be used once.
- Click Done.
Signing In with 2FA
After entering your email and password, you will be prompted to enter a 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Enter the current code and click Verify to complete sign-in.
Backup Codes
When you enable 2FA, you receive a set of single-use backup codes. If you lose access to your authenticator app, you can use a backup code to sign in instead. On the 2FA verification screen, click Use a backup code instead and enter one of your saved codes.
Each backup code can only be used once. If you run out of backup codes, disable and re-enable 2FA to generate a new set.
Disabling 2FA
- Go to Settings > Security.
- Click Disable two-factor authentication.
- Enter your account password to confirm.
Important Notes
- 2FA is available for accounts that use email and password sign-in. If you sign in exclusively with Google or Linear SSO, 2FA is not currently supported for your account.
- 2FA protects your Fishladder login only. It does not affect your connected Linear or Google accounts.
- If you lose both your authenticator app and your backup codes, contact your team admin for assistance.
