Migration Overview

Fishladder's migration wizard helps you import data from other project management tools into Fishladder Projects. The wizard walks you through connecting your account, selecting what to import, and mapping fields and users to your new workspace.

Supported Platforms

PlatformWhat gets imported
AsanaProjects, categories, tasks (with assignees, due dates, descriptions, tags), comments
Monday.comBoards, groups, items (with assignees, dates, statuses, tags), updates (comments)
NotionDatabases (tasks, roadmap items, feedback entries) via CSV upload

How It Works

Every migration follows the same 7-step wizard:

  1. Source — Choose which platform to import from (Asana or Monday.com).
  2. Connect — Authorize Fishladder to read your data via OAuth. We only request read access.
  3. Workspace — Select which workspace (Asana) to pull from. Monday.com skips this step.
  4. Projects — Pick the projects or boards you want to import.
  5. Team — Create a new Fishladder team or import into an existing one.
  6. Mapping — Map fields and users from the source platform to Fishladder equivalents.
  7. Import — Review your choices and run the import. Progress is shown in real time.

What Happens to Your Source Data?

Migrations are read-only. Fishladder never modifies, deletes, or writes back to your Asana or Monday.com account. Your source data stays exactly as it is.

Importing Into an Existing Team

If you choose to import into an existing team, the wizard will check for naming conflicts (projects with the same name). For each conflict you can:

  • Update — Merge tasks into the existing project.
  • Rename — Import as a new project with a modified name.
  • Skip — Don't import that project.

User Mapping

During the mapping step, you can choose how to handle each user from the source platform:

  • Map to existing member — Link to a team member who's already in Fishladder.
  • Invite — Send an email invitation to join your Fishladder team.
  • Add (no invite) — Create the user in your team without sending an email.
  • Skip — Don't import this user. Their tasks and comments will show the original author name.

Users who are already members of the team are automatically detected and shown with a "Joined" badge — no action needed.

Running Multiple Migrations

You can run the migration wizard as many times as you need. Each run is independent, so you can import from Asana first, then import additional boards from Monday.com into the same team.
