Migrating from Monday.com

This guide walks you through importing your Monday.com boards, items, and updates into Fishladder Projects.

Before You Start

  • You need a Monday.com account with access to the boards you want to import.
  • You must be an admin on the Fishladder team you're importing into (or create a new one during the wizard).
  • The import is read-only — nothing in your Monday.com account will be changed.

Step 1: Select Source

Go to /migrations and select Monday.com from the source platform dropdown, then click Continue.

Step 2: Connect Your Monday.com Account

Click Connect Monday.com Account. You'll be redirected to Monday.com's OAuth screen to authorize Fishladder. After granting access, you'll be sent back to the wizard automatically.

Unlike Asana, Monday.com tokens don't expire, so you won't need to re-authorize if you come back later.

Step 3: Select Boards

Monday.com doesn't have workspaces in the same way as Asana, so the wizard skips the workspace step and goes straight to board selection. You'll see all boards you have access to — check the ones you want to import.

Step 4: Choose a Team

Decide where the imported data should go:

  • Create a new team — A fresh Fishladder team will be created.
  • Import into existing team — Select one of your current teams. Conflicts are checked in the next step.

Step 5: Resolve Conflicts (Existing Teams Only)

If any Monday.com board names match existing Fishladder project names, choose how to handle each conflict:

  • Update — Merge new tasks into the existing project.
  • Rename — Import as a separate project.
  • Skip — Don't import that board.

Step 6: Map Fields & Users

Field Mapping

Monday.com columns are automatically mapped to Fishladder fields:

Monday.comFishladder
Board nameProject name
GroupCategory
Item nameTask title
Person columnAssignee
Date columnDue date
Status columnStatus / Tags
Tags columnTags
Updates (comments)Comments

User Mapping

For each Monday.com user found in your selected boards, choose how to handle them:

  • Map — Link to an existing Fishladder team member.
  • Invite — Send them an email invitation.
  • Add (no invite) — Add to the team silently.
  • Skip — Their name appears as a text label on tasks and comments.

Users already in your team are auto-detected and shown with a "Joined" badge.

Step 7: Import

Review the summary and click Start Import. Progress is shown in real time as each board is processed. Monday.com boards with many items use cursor-based pagination, so large boards may take a little longer.

Once complete, click Go to Projects to see your imported data.

Troubleshooting

OAuth error
Make sure the Monday.com app has the correct redirect URI configured. Go back to the Connect step and re-authorize.
Board not showing up
You can only see boards you have access to in Monday.com. Check your Monday.com permissions if a board is missing.
Status values imported as tags
Monday.com status labels are imported as Fishladder tags, since Monday statuses are free-form text rather than a fixed set.
Missing updates/comments
Only the most recent updates on each item are imported. Very old updates may not be accessible via the Monday.com API.
