Creating Projects and Tasks
Fishladder supports two types of projects on the Roadmap: those synced from Linear, and local projects created directly within Fishladder. For task-level tracking, see the Projects App.
Synced Projects (from Linear)
Once your team is connected to Linear, press R or click the sync button to pull in all active projects and initiatives. These are read-write — you can update titles, descriptions, and statuses directly from Fishladder, and the changes are pushed back to Linear.
Local Projects
You can create projects that live only in Fishladder. These are useful for early-stage ideas, internal initiatives, or teams that do not use Linear.
- On the Kanban view, click New Project under an initiative.
- Enter a title and an optional description.
- Choose a Quarter column and a theme Row, then create it. Set dates and status afterwards in the edit drawer.
Projects in the Projects app (task boards) are created separately: an admin clicks + next to the PROJECTS heading in its sidebar and picks Blank Project, Use a Template, or Import File. See Projects App.
Initiatives
Initiatives are strategic groupings of related projects. In Linear, these map to Linear initiatives. Locally, you can also create initiatives to group your local projects.
Editing
Click any project card (kanban) or bar (timeline) to open the edit drawer. From there you can update:
- Title and description
- Start and target dates
- Status (planned, in progress, completed, paused, cancelled)
- Initiative assignment
